Your Privacy Choices

Last updated: April 27, 2026 · Version 1.0.0 · Effective: April 27, 2026

This page explains your privacy choices regarding the sale or sharing of personal information under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), and describes how Unbind, Inc. (“Unbind,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) honours browser-based opt-out signals.

1. We never sell your data. Period.

Not selling your personal information is a core principle of how we run Unbind — not a regulatory checkbox. We have never sold user data and we never will. Your stories, characters, and notes belong to you.

This page exists because California law (CCPA/CPRA) defines “sale” and “sharing” very broadly — broadly enough that even sending consent-based analytics to a third-party service can technically qualify. We give you a single control to shut all of that off, no questions asked.

2. Definitions: “Sale” and “Sharing” under CCPA/CPRA

Under Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.140:

  • “Sale” means disclosing personal information to a third party for monetary or other valuable consideration.
  • “Sharing” means disclosing personal information to a third party for cross-context behavioural advertising, whether or not money changes hands.

Unbind does not sell personal information for monetary consideration. If — and only if — you opted into analytics or marketing cookies, anonymised usage data may flow to a third-party analytics service (PostHog) so we can understand how the product is used. Under the broad CCPA/CPRA definition, that flow could be classified as “sharing” even though no personal information is sold and no targeting occurs.

3. How to opt out

3.1 Manage cookie preferences in the app

Go to Settings → Cookie preferences (or use the cookie banner that appears on first visit) and select “Reject all” or disable the Analytics category individually. This stops all non-essential data flows tied to your session immediately and saves your preference across future visits.

3.2 Use the opt-out button

You may also visit the Your Privacy Choices page within the application (the /do-not-sell route accessible from the footer) and click “Opt Out of Selling/Sharing.” This calls our consent system’s denyAll() action, which:

  • disables all analytics and marketing cookies;
  • stops any third-party data flow tied to your session; and
  • saves your preference so it persists across sessions.

Once you have opted out, the button is replaced by a confirmation that non-essential cookies and third-party data sharing are disabled.

4. Global Privacy Control (GPC)

We honour the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal (Sec-GPC: 1). If your browser or a browser extension sends this signal, we automatically treat it as a binding opt-out request — equivalent to clicking the opt-out button above. We will not show you the consent banner; we will simply respect the signal.

You can enable GPC in supported browsers or via browser extensions such as Privacy Badger or DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials. See https://globalprivacycontrol.org/ for more information.

5. Non-discrimination policy

We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights. Specifically, we will not:

  • deny you access to the Service;
  • charge you a different price or rate for the Service;
  • provide you a different level or quality of the Service; or
  • suggest that you will receive a different price, rate, or quality of service because you exercised your rights.

The only effect of opting out is that non-essential analytics and marketing cookies are disabled. All core Service features remain fully available.

6. Authorised agents

California residents may designate an authorised agent to submit opt-out requests on their behalf under Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.135(c). We will require written proof of authorisation and may verify your identity directly before honouring the request. Contact [email protected] to initiate an authorised-agent request.

Unbind unbinds the long work of writing — from tools that resist you across tabs and apps, formats that fight you, the friction between an idea in your mind and a book in your hand. One workspace that bends to your process, from first sketch to the page in someone’s hands.
