§ I · The Mission

Why Unbind exists.

Stories are how knowledge, wisdom, and ways of seeing move between people. Not only novels: memoirs, essays, poetry, screenplays, any work that carries something true from one mind to another. We think the world is better with more of them, told by more people, in more voices.

But a book is one of the most complex things a person can make, and almost nobody gets to make it whole. The world lives in one doc, the timeline in a spreadsheet, the research in a browser you’re afraid to close. Quietly, the story starts to shrink to what one memory can carry.

Unbind is the connected workshop where the whole book gets made: world, timeline, plot, research, manuscript, all sharing one truth about the story. Build in any direction, as big as the story wants to get. It holds together while you build, and the book you’ve been carrying becomes a thing you can hold.

The telling stays human. That isn’t a feature, it’s the point: tools should carry everything around the writing, never the writing itself.

§ II · The Promises

What we promise.

The voice is yours.

Unbind will never write your sentences. It holds your world steady while you find the words.

Your story stays yours.

Your manuscript is private by default. It never becomes training data.

The roadmap comes from writers.

What they ask for, what they struggle with, what they actually need. When something feels wrong, tell us. We read every note.

The rest is written down.

These three rest on a longer set of principles, kept public so you can hold us to them.

§ III · A Letter from the Builder

It started with my daughter.

Unbind began with my daughter. She loves to read and she loves to write, and like her father, she thinks in pictures. Her stories don’t start as sentences. They start as worlds: characters, places, things that happened long before the first page. I wanted to build her something she could use to explore all of that freely, a place where a world could live somewhere other than her head.

Worldbuilding pulled me in from there. D&D campaigns with my kids. Reading my daughter’s stories as one of her beta readers. Watching how much braver a story gets when its world has somewhere to stand.

I’ll be honest about what I am. I like writing, but I’m not a writer. An aficionado, maybe an aspiring one, non-fiction if anything. What I am is a builder, and I know what a good tool does in the hands of someone with something to make.

And this I believe: the world needs more original stories. Not only stories. Anything that carries knowledge, wisdom, or a perspective worth keeping deserves to be made, and made well. The telling should stay human. My job is everything else.

So take this page as an invitation. Explore. Build. Tell the story only you can tell, and tell it bravely. I hope Unbind gets to be a small part of that.

Jorge Silva has spent more than a decade as a software engineer, building systems used by thousands to millions of people in more than twenty countries, from civic infrastructure to nonprofits to Fortune 500 companies. Unbind is the first one he built for his family.
